O’Reilly Return Policy

O’Reilly Auto Parts has a return policy that allows customers to return most products within 60 days of purchase, with some exceptions. 

The return policy states that items must be in new, unused condition and in their original packaging to be eligible for a full refund. If the product is returned after 60 days or if it has been used or is no longer in its original packaging, a store credit or exchange may be offered at the discretion of the store.

It’s important to note that some items, such as special orders or customized products, may not be eligible for return. Additionally, some products may have specific return guidelines, such as tools and electronics, which must be returned within 30 days of purchase.

What is O’Reillys Returns Policy for New Merchandise?

Both online and in-store purchases can be returned to your local store. An original purchase receipt is required for all returns, and we ask that you make your return as soon as possible. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • The item must be in its original packaging
  • Must include all original materials supplied with the product
  • Must be unopened and uninstalled

Remember, even items purchased online can be returned to any O’Reilly Auto Parts store. You’ll still need to follow the return guidelines above when sending in a New return. Please keep the following in mind:

  • Customers are responsible for all shipping costs*
  • Returns sent COD (Cash on Delivery) will not be accepted
  • If you return an item you didn’t buy from us, you’ll have to pay shipping to have it sent back to you
  • You must obtain an RMA (Return Material Authorization) from OReillyAuto.com
  • Sign in or create an account
  • Select the “My Orders” tab
  • Select the “Return Items” option

*shipping charges are non-refundable

Same Day Order Returns

If your order was placed for the Same Day delivery, returns must be completed in-store. Please remember that if you added a tip for your delivery driver during checkout, that payment was provided to the driver directly and cannot be refunded.

New Batteries

Batteries cannot be returned once installed for any length of time (unless tested at an O’Reilly Auto Parts store and found to be defective)

“Dry” stored batteries are not returnable once opened, or acid in the kit is added to the battery.

If possible, returning to your local O’Reilly Auto Parts store at your convenience is the quickest, easiest, and most economical solution.

If you cannot return to an O’Reilly Auto Parts store, you may mail your return to OReillyAuto.com. If it is approved for a refund, the item amount will be credited back to the gift/credit/debit card originally used to purchase the product (usually within 1 to 3 business days after the product is received by the online store). We recommend shipping with a carrier that offers tracking, insurance, and delivery confirmation (such as UPS or FedEx). If you use USPS mail, we require that you request USPS to obtain a signature at delivery time.

If you send us an item for a refund that we don’t approve as a return, you will be required to pay the shipping on that item to receive it back.

**For returns involving warranties or defects, products shipped in error, or products damaged in shipping, please email us via the Online Ordering section of the Contact Us page, or you may contact us toll-free at 1.888.327.7153, option 1. Please be able to specify the order number for the product you wish to return and be able to provide a brief description of the nature of the problem with the product. An Online Order Support agent will assist you with the return and provide a Return Code RMA and prepaid return shipping label (if applicable) via e-mail.

All returned merchandise is subject to inspection and approval before credit is issued. Retail store credit will not be given; we will only refund the card/account used for the purchase, so please retain gift cards until your entire transaction is complete. Clearance items and custom-made or modified parts are not eligible for return.

Can you return O’Reillys Online Order to a store?

Yes, you can return O’Reilly’s online orders to a store. Most stores have a returns desk where you can return items purchased online. You may need to bring the order confirmation or other proof of purchase. It’s best to check the store’s specific return policy or contact customer service for more information.

Core Returns

When new parts are purchased for repairs, customers may be charged a core charge. A core charge is simply a deposit paid that will be returned when the defective part has been returned. Cores are used by our suppliers to be remanufactured and recycled by thoroughly cleaning and inspecting the usable portions of the part, and replacing any worn or damaged components, including seals, bearings, bushings, electronic components, and more, so that the part may be sold and installed again and function like new. All remanufactured products are tested thoroughly in OE-quality facilities to ensure that they provide the same form, fit, function, and performance as the vehicle’s original parts.

You can return cores for a refund at any O’Reilly Auto Parts location, or parts purchased online that required a core charge can be returned in-store or shipped back to O’Reilly (customer pays return shipping). Before returning a core, please ensure that all fluids have been drained, if applicable, and that you have your original purchase receipt or the packing slip and confirmation email, and your credit or debit card if this was the original payment method.

In order to ship a core return, you must drain all fluids from the core (if applicable), and obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) from OReillyAuto.com. When the core has been received, you can expect a refund of the core price to your original payment method within 3 to 5 business days. The RMA can be found by following these steps:
