Buy a gift for what every balance is remaining on the card. Please wait a few days and then make a return request with the reason you received it as a gift from a family member. You’ll most likely receive another best buy gift card, but in some cases, this may work, and you’ll receive cash instead.

How do I use gift cards online?
In Checkout, enter both the card number and 4-digit PIN on the back of the card. If your gift card balance doesn’t cover the total cost of your order, we’ll charge the remaining amount to your primary form of payment listed in your Best Buy account, or to another acceptable form of payment at your request. If the total cost of the order is less than the balance on your gift card(s), any unused balance will remain on the last gift card you entered.
BestBuy.com accepts the following:
Best Buy Gift Card; Best Buy store credit; Geek Squad® official gift card; and Magnolia Home Theater® card.
BestBuy.com does NOT accept the following:

How do I check my gift card balance?

What if I want to return an item I bought with a gift card?
Keep your gift card until you receive your order and are sure you’re satisfied with it. You can return items purchased with gift cards in accordance with our Return & Exchange Promise. The return amount will be credited to your gift card within 30 minutes of the time we receive it. If you no longer have the gift card, call 1-888-BEST BUY to request a new one.
Does Best Buy replace lost or stolen gift cards?
We can replace the remaining balance on a lost, stolen or damaged gift card, as long as you have the original purchase receipt. Please call 1-888-716-7994.
What if I cancel an order I paid for with a gift card?
If you cancel an order that was purchased with a gift card, the purchase amount will be credited to your gift card within 30 minutes of the cancellation. If you no longer have the gift card, call 1-888-BEST BUY to request a new one.
Can I use my Best Buy Gift Card to make a payment on a Best Buy Credit Card?
No. Best Buy Gift Cards can be used only to purchase merchandise and services online and in stores, as specified in the terms and conditions.
