IKEA Return Policy

IKEA do not accept returns on plants, cut fabric, custom countertops and as-is products.  We are unable to refund or exchange your items if your merchandise is found to be modified from its original form when purchased, dirty, stained, or damaged.

365-day Return Policy

If you’re not totally satisfied with your IKEA purchase you can return new and unopened products within 365 days, together with your proof of purchase, for a full refund.  You may also return open products within 180 days, with your proof of purchase, for a full refund.  

 

 

90 day Return Policy

  • Mattress purchases may be exchanged for another mattress one time within 90 days.

  • You must have your receipt and valid government-issued photo ID in order to return or exchange your product. Information from your ID will be retained in a company-wide database to be used only for authorizing returns.
  • Refunds will be made in the same form of payment originally used to make the purchase. What should I do if my item is damaged? If only one part from your product is damaged, we may be able to ship replacement parts from one of our stores. For the quickest resolution, we recommend visiting an IKEA store with the damaged product or part(s) along with your order confirmation or receipt. If you’re unable to do so, please contact the IKEA US Customer Support Center at 1-888-888-4532.
  • Only the net purchase price as shown on receipt will be refunded. Returns are not accepted at the IKEA Planning Studio. Customers whose closest IKEA location is Queens, please address your return to IKEA Brooklyn.
  • Promotional Terms & Conditions: When a promotional item included in the original transaction is not returned, the value of the promotional item will be deducted from the refund amount.

Removal and Pick-up services at customers’ homes vary by market. If the Pick-up service is available in your area, please bring your product to your covered porch, garage or doorstep.

To return your purchase, we ask you to to fill in the product return form in advance, print it out and bring it with you when returning your purchace in our Pick-up and ordering point. You can find the product return form here. If you do not have the opportunity to print, you can also fill in the form on the spot. For that we ask you to prepare the following information: customer’s name, order number, product article number, customer’s bank account number.

You can return or exchange the purchased products within 90 days. (IKEA Family members can return products within 365 days if IKEA Family card was used on purchase.)

Service description

Product returns are accepted or exchanged within 90 days after the purchase upon presenting a receipt. Full refund is applicable to unused, unpacked and unassembled goods only.

 

 IKEA Refund Policy for No-Receipt Returns?

IKEA is known to be flexible and might provide assistance in case you don’t have your receipt.

You could ask IKEA employees to locate your purchase using your credit card or an order number. 

If those are not applicable, you may be allowed to return an item and get store credit for the lowest selling price within the past 365 calendar days.

IKEA Terms and conditions:

• products purchased in the store may be returned or exchanged within 90 days after the purchase upon presenting a receipt, an invoice or an approved bank statement. This is an additional guarantee which goes beyond the scope of laws of the Republic of Estonia regulating the return of goods;
• return and exchange policy applies only to products purchased from IKEA Estonia;
• to qualify for full refund, products must not be used, they must have either unopened or carefully opened (with no tears or damages) original packaging, and they must not be assembled, either fully or partially;
• if a product is unpacked and assembled, either fully or partially, we will be able to refund no more than 80 % of the acquisition cost subject to preliminary assessment and considering the condition of the product;
• if a product is defective and/or an unrepairable fault has been discovered, it will be subject to full refund in a manner selected by the purchaser;
• if the refund amount exceeds EUR 300, it is transferred to the purchaser’s bank account;
• if the product is new and unused but unpacked, the purchaser will receive a voucher for the total amount paid;
• if a product defect has been established only after opening of the packaging and there was no possibility to check the product quality before its delivery, it will be subject to full refund in a manner selected by the purchaser;
• plants, batteries, custom-made table tops and wall panels, textile, the products bought from the half clearance department are not returned or replaced if the customer simply changes his mind;
• it is possible to exchange only the low-grade or faulty part of the product, namely, it is not necessary to exchange or to return the whole product if only one part of it is defective;
• if a product has been purchased during sales and any part of it is damaged or defective, it must be returned in a complete set;
• IKEA domestic appliances may not be exchanged in the store but rather by certified after-sales service providers;
• if the product safety is questioned, it may be returned and replaced by another product;
• LED bulbs may be returned and exchanged. If bulbs are still in the original packaging, it will be subject to full refund in a manner selected by the purchaser. If the original packaging is removed, the purchaser will get a voucher or payment card in the amount of full purchase price.

Does IKEA accept returns on assembled furniture? 

IKEA does have a great return policy. Customers can return products up to 365 days after the initial purchase, even if the furniture has been assembled. If IKEA agrees that the product is unused and in resalable conditions, the store will issue a full refund.

IKEA U.S. Not Participating in 2020 Global Buy Back Program

IKEA Retail U.S. will not be participating in the global Buy Back program this November. We are working to bring the Buy Back service to the U.S., and will launch the program when we can deliver the best possible experience for both our stores and customers. Please hold on to your used IKEA furniture or find other ways to donate or recycle them at this time.

This Black Friday, in place of deals and offers, IKEA Retail U.S. is encouraging customers to turn their Black Friday green. From November 27-30, the IKEA U.S. website will not only be green in color, but it will also feature green guides for living a more sustainable life at home. We are also debuting four fun illustrations done in the same style as the iconic IKEA step-by-step graphic instructions, which feature some easy sustainability tips for the holiday season.
